In response to the National Aerial Firefighting Strategy 2021-2026, NAFC has recently welcomed funding by the Australian Government to procure an additional Australian Fixed Wing Large Airtanker (LAT) Service, ready for the 2022-23 Australian fire season.
This additional funding is aimed at increasing the availability of LAT Services to provide Australian emergency response. It is also an opportunity to further develop in-country capability and expertise in relation to LAT crews, support and maintenance.
To better understand the opportunities that the market may provide for this new arrangement, NAFC has engaged Landell Consulting to conduct a survey of the LAT market. We seek to:
• Broaden our understanding of different models of fixed wing LAT and supervision aircraft, capable of operating in Australia, that may be available from the market
• Understand whether different leasing models, levels of availability or purchasing options may offer viable solutions, at what indicative cost
• Gain a clearer picture of how this may be provided by Australian industry
• Inform a potential tender in early 2022, for a moveable, multi-purpose, Australian LAT service.
This is not a tendering process nor a pre-qualification exercise.
Responses to this Request for Information are invited from potential suppliers of Large Airtanker Services capable of operating legally in Australia.
Further information as to how to prepare a response, including Terms and Conditions and the template Response Form, is available from the Landell TenderLink portal.
Responses must be submitted to the Landell TenderLink portal before 16:00 AEDT on Monday 13 December 2021 at:
